Schools work training with Youth For Christ year out volunteers

This week I had the great privilege of spending a day with Youth For Christ's latest intake of year out volunteers. Youth For Christ works all over the country doing lots of different projects. A big part of their workforce are volunteers (usually straight out of school) that give a year to volunteer for them. Whether placed in a set location or as part of one of their touring teams, a big part of what they do involves going into schools.
I spent the day with them thinking about top tips for schools work, the different areas of schools work, how to write a lesson and how to tell a good story.

This was the first in a series of training days they have throughout the year. Emily, who helps lead the year out team commented afterwards:

‘We had an absolutely fantastic day of teaching on schools work for our volunteers, from the basics of schools work, to innovative ideas on how to structure a lesson. It has put our volunteers in good stead for their work in schools.’

It was such a great opportunity to share the experience we have gained at Phase with so many volunteers that are going to have a huge impact around the country. One of the volunteers showed her appreciation saying:

‘Paul was great. Am so thankful, as I have never done schools work before. The advice and knowledge he brought really helped as I will be going into schools shortly, so thank you.’
